Information for Faculty & Academic Advisors
Program Development
If you are a faculty member considering developing a study abroad program, we are here to help you!
Faculty-Led Programs
The purpose of a study abroad program is to enhance the learning experience for students, not to replicate a classroom experience on campus. Leading a study abroad program provides faculty with an opportunity to enhance the educational experience for students through experiential learning opportunities. TAMU-CC courses taught abroad must adhere to the same standards as courses taught on campus. Successful courses for a study abroad program require balance between classroom/lecture time and travel-related experiences. Excursions and other activities included in the program should have academic relevance to the course and/or cultural relevance to the location.
Proposal Timeline
All faculty-led program proposals must be submitted one year in advance of the semester you plan to travel. This timeline ensures adequate time for approval, promotion, student recruitment, and logistical arrangements.
Proposal Deadlines:
- Fall Semester Travel – Proposal due by October 1 of the previous year
- Spring & Maymester Travel – Proposal due by January 15 of the previous year
- Summer Semester Travel – Proposal due by June 1 of the previous year
For example:
If you are planning a program for Summer 2026, your proposal is due by June 1, 2025.
