Applied Arts and Sciences, BAAS

In the BAAS program, you will:

• Build skills in leadership, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Gain specialized knowledge in your chosen track.
• Strengthen professional abilities like project management, research, and collaboration.

All BAAS students complete the university’s core curriculum and electives, along with a chosen professional track. Options include Applied Leadership, Childhood Development, Community and Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Environmental & Occupational Safety/Emergency Response, Information Technology, Legal Studies, and Technical Communication. The program culminates with the University Studies Capstone, where students apply what they’ve learned to real-world challenges.

• Total Credit Requirement: 120–122 semester credit hours
• Foreign language: 6 credits
• University Seminar: 2 credits (USSE 1201 University Seminar)
• Vocational/Technical Credit: 3–42 credits transferred from prior training
• Core Curriculum: 42 credits covering foundational college-level learning
• Professional Track Coursework: 18–24 credits specific to the student’s chosen area of focus
• Capstone: UNIV 4350 University Studies Capstone, 3 credits
• Electives: Up to 39 credits can include some vocational/technical hours, to meet the total (typically 9–54 credits depending on transferred credits)

Upper-Division Requirements: At least 45 upper-division credits required; of those, 30 must be completed at TAMU-CC.

Graduates of the BAAS program are prepared for advancement in fields such as business, public service, education, technology, and nonprofit leadership. Career options may include roles like project manager, training and development manager, social services manager, juvenile justice officer, safety and emergency response coordinator, IT systems analyst, technical writer, or child development specialist. The BAAS program is also an excellent stepping stone for graduate studies.
