Mark Your Calendars: Bell Library to Host Workshop Series

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Beyond rows of books representing every type of academic discipline and genre, and hundreds of online database, the Mary and Jeff Bell Library offers an array of services like study rooms, the I-Create MakerSpace, and other programs that benefit student success. Throughout this semester, Bell Library will also host a workshop series covering a variety of topics. All workshops are free and open to the public and will take place in Bell Library.

“The Island University is home to an enormous variety of experts, including Writing Center consultants, Career Services counselors, the I-Create technician, and so many more,” said Emily Metcalf, Instructional Services Librarian. “Students are so busy in their lives that they often don’t have time to seek out all of these different services, so we wanted to bring them all together so students know when and where they can go to get a taste of what’s available to them on campus.”

September workshops will include the following:

Tuesday, Sept. 3: Stress Management

Deadlines, grades, relationships, financial pressures, lack of sleep, and all the stress that go along with them can make life overwhelming. Stephanie Majors, Director at the University Counseling Center and Licensed Psychologist, invites all Islanders to come learn practical skills and proactive steps to cope more effectively with the stresses of college life. This workshop will take place Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in room 208.

Tuesday, Sept. 10: Craft Your Resume

Writing a standout resume is a daunting task. Career Services at A&M-Corpus Christi will be available to teach Islanders practical tips and tricks on what to include on their resumes and how to write simply while highlighting their strengths and experiences. Tuesday, Sept. 24: Painting 3D Printed Items in the I-Create Lab
