Islander Alumni from Across Texas Invited to Attend ‘The Island Tour’

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –Time spent at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi leaves an indelible mark on each of its alumni as they realize the pride of achieving personal and professional goals and creating bonds that last a lifetime. There are close to 50,000 Islander alumni scattered throughout the state and nation who are making their Islander Impact through professional accomplishments and altruistic acts.

To connect alumni – both new and old – and encourage continued involvement in the growth of their alma mater, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi along with the National Alumni Association and University President Dr. Kelly M. Quintanilla, are hosting “The Island Tour,” an inaugural event crisscrossing the state of Texas to share the past, present, and future of the Island University. The four locations chosen for the 2019 tour – Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio – were selected for their robust Islander alumni population and/or active association chapters.

“The Island Tour is a unique opportunity to bring the University to our amazing alumni who want to stay involved but can’t always make it to campus,” said Quintanilla. “No matter where they end up after graduation, I am consistently impressed by the passion our alumni have for the Island University and the difference they make in the communities they serve.”

Each leg of The Island Tour will be held in a venue that was chosen to provide a relaxed and unique experience for Islander alumni to connect and re-engage with A&M-Corpus Christi. Guests will receive updates on the current state of the Alumni Association and plans for Alumni expansion and programming, like the Islander Forever Endowed Scholarship.

Tour dates and locations are:

  • Thursday, July 25, in Dallas/Fort Worth from 6-9 p.m. at Mesero-Prestonwood, 5505 Belt Line Rd.
  • Saturday, July 27, in Houston from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, 4310 Westheimer Rd., Ste. 150

“We’re committed to fostering lifelong relationships between the University and its growing population of Islander alumni,” said Russell Wagner, Executive Director of Alumni Relations at A&M-Corpus Christi. “At our events, we love seeing old classmates and roommates reconnect. Islanders may even strike up a conversation with fellow alumni they’ve never met before. It’s these experiences that remind them of the joys of their alma mater.”

The Island Tour is free to attend, though RSVPs are required at IslanderAlumni.org/IslandTour. Due to facility limitations, attendees are limited to one guest each and both attendees and guests must be 18 and older.
