Texas A&M-Corpus Christi traces its beginning to 1947 as the area’s premier institution of higher education. Today, we’re part of The Texas A&M University System, a network of nine universities, seven state agencies and a comprehensive health science center. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi traces its beginning back to 1947, when Ward Island became the home of the University of Corpus Christi with 312 students enrolled. In 1989, the University joined the A&M System and has since grown to five colleges. The Island University now has more than 12,000 students from across the nation and 50 countries.
