Greater Texas Foundation Islander Scholars Program

The Greater Texas Foundation Islander Scholars Program provides students with financial assistance and support systems for three years. These support systems will help Early College High School (ECHS) graduates transition from high school to TAMU-CC, and through bachelor's degree completion.

The program accepts 40 students per cohort and provides them with scholarships depending on each student’s needs. This exclusive opportunity is more than financial assistance throughout their college journey. Students also receive ongoing academic, social, and emotional support to ensure their success.

Program Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this grant, a student must:

  • Be a 2023 graduate of a Texas ECHS
  • Be a Texas resident
  • Have been admitted to TAMU-CC for Fall 2023
  • Plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from TAMU-CC
  • Be eligible to apply for Free Federal Student Aid
  • Demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Earned a minimum of 24 college credits
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4-point scale) for college hours completed

Program Requirements

  • Be admitted to TAMU-CC for the fall semester
  • Attend Islander Launch, TAMU-CC’s new student orientation
  • Participate in the Greater Texas Foundation Islander Scholars Program first-year living-learning community and other programmatic activities
  • Maintain full-time status (at least 12 credits)
  • Earn at least 30 credit hours per year
  • Maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative TAMU-CC GPA
  • Continue to demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education
