Faculty Advisory Council

Purpose or Function: The Faculty Advisory Council is an body of elected and appointed faculty members. As an advising and recommending body, the Faculty Advisory Council reports to the President or the President’s designee. The council is the faculty’s body for university-wide participation in the governance of the institution.

Membership:  The Faculty Advisory Council is composed of three (3) elected members and one (1) President-appointed member from each academic college/school and one (1) elected member and one (1) President-appointed member from the Mary and Jeff Bell Library. Elected members serve for two-year non-renewable and staggered terms. Appointed members serve one-year terms that are renewable for up to six (6) terms.  Qualifications are explained in the Faculty Advisory Council's Constitution.  The immediate past Faculty Advisory Council Speaker, the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Provost, Associate Vice President for Student Success, Academic and Administrative Compliance Manger, Faculty Ombuds, Chief Information Officer, and Staff Council Vice President are standing ex-officio, non-voting members of the council.

The Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Secretary of the council are appointed annually by the President from the existing members of the council.

Faculty Advisory Council committees include: Executive Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, Faculty Affairs Committee, Committee on Committees, Awards/Bylaws/Election Committee, and Budget Analysis Committee.  Committee elections are held annually, and the current members are listed on Faculty Advisory Council's webpage: https://www.tamucc.edu/faculty/faculty-advisory-council/index.php.
