Scholarship Review Panel

Purpose or Function: The Scholarship Review Panel reviews scholarship appeal forms that have been submitted for institutional scholarships. Prior to the beginning of a term, the panel will review appeal forms and supporting documentation that has been provided by a student who has either lost an incoming freshman or incoming transfer award or has missed the deadline to be considered for these types of awards. When necessary, the panel will review appeals a week into the start of a semester. The panel will notify Scholarship Services of its decision within two (2) weeks. The students are then informed via their official Islander email if they were approved or denied for the award.

Membership: The panel is chaired by the Director of Scholarship Services and consists of two (2) members from Academic Advising and Coaching and one (1) member from each of the following: Veterans Affairs, Student Financial Assistance, Finance & Administration, Recruitment and Admissions, and Intercollegiate Athletics appointed by their supervisor.  Two (2) faculty representatives recommended by Faculty Senate and appointed by their dean/director will serve on the panel. Members serve staggered renewable three-year terms. The Scholarship Coordinator serves as a non-voting ex-officio member of the panel.
