I-CARE Behavioral Intervention Team

Purpose or Function: Care & Assistance, within the Dean of Students office, provides a centralized system for faculty, staff, students, and others to report concerns regarding students exhibiting disruptive, distressed, or high-risk behaviors. The I-CARE Behavioral Intervention Team reviews referrals received by Care & Assistance. The I-CARE Team meets weekly to ensure a timely and coordinated university response, based on established protocols, to address concerning behaviors of students. The Team provides recommendations for campus and community resources to help and support the student of concern. The I-CARE Case Manager then coordinates follow-up with the student.

Membership: Membership in the I-CARE Team shall consist of the Associate Dean of Students (chair), the I-CARE Case Manager (co-chair), and a standing representative and alternative from each of the areas identified below. Alternate representatives only attend meetings in the case of an absence of the primary representative from their area. Representatives from Student Engagement & Success (SEAS) are appointed by the Vice President for Student Engagement and Success and Intercollegiate Athletics in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Students for Care & Assistance. Members from other divisions are recommended by their respective vice presidents or designees. Final appointments from other divisions will be made by the Vice President for Student Engagement and Success and Intercollegiate Athletics or designee, in collaboration with the I-CARE Team's chair.
