Academic Integrity Pool

Purpose or Function: The Academic Integrity Pool considers cases involving academic standards, academic integrity, academic honesty, and other academic issues addressed in university procedure 13.02.99.C0.04, Student Academic Misconduct. From the pool of panel members, the Associate Vice President for School and Community Relations or their designee selects five (5) faculty members to serve on the Academic Integrity Hearing Panel (AIHP) with three (3) selected to serve and two (2) selected as alternates. For each case, the Assistant Dean of Students or their designee selects one (1) student to serve on the AIHP and one (1) student as an alternate. No faculty or student member serving on the AIHP may be in any way involved in the case to be heard.

MembershipThe deans/directors of the academic colleges/schools will appoint thirty-five (35) faculty members (five (5) from each college/school) and the Dean of Libraries will appoint two (2) faculty librarians to serve on the Academic Integrity Pool. Members of the pool will serve staggered three-year terms of service. Each of these members must complete a mandatory training session.

The Assistant Dean of Students or their designee will select a pool of undergraduate and graduate students to serve on the Academic Integrity Pool for one-year terms.  Undergraduate students must be in good disciplinary standing and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and graduate students must be in good disciplinary standing and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. All students must complete a mandatory training session and be available to serve on Academic Integrity Hearing Panels (AIHP) throughout the year.  Student members shall be appointed in the Spring semester each year to serve one-year terms beginning the following Fall semester.

If cases arise during the summer session at a time when absences result in insufficient members to constitute an AIHP, interim faculty appointments may be made by the Associate Vice President for School and Community Relations and interim student appointments by the Assistant Dean of Students.
