TAMU-CC Faculty Granted Two U.S. Patents for Cancer Technology
Dr. Jian Sheng, Professor of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC), and Dr. Maryam Jalali-Mousavi, Assistant Research Professor of Engineering, were honored after being granted two U.S. Patents at the Innovation Awards Luncheon on April 11, 2025, in College Station, TX.
These patents are a product of the CPRIT grant (grant #: RP200593) and provide a new technology for early cancer detection and prognosis evaluation tools for cancer therapies. The titles of the patents are “System, Device, and Method to Detect, Enumerate and Characterize Circulating Tumor Cells in Patient Whole Blood.” This technology is low-cost and applicable for many types of cancer. Currently, it can detect five types of cancer.
TAMU-CC is proud to have innovators such as Sheng and Jalali-Mousavi who are making a real impact beyond Corpus Christi.
