TAMU-CC Civil Engineering Students Attend 2025 CECON, Prepare for Major 2026 Event

Five Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) students attended the 2025 Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) in San Marcos, Texas, this September. Their participation marked more than just another educational trip — it was a bold step forward for a dedicated group of student engineers with ambitious goals. These students attended not only to deepen their knowledge of civil engineering but also to build connections with industry professionals and showcase the potential of TAMU-CC’s civil engineering program.

The  students who attended the conference were members of the officer board of the TAMU-CC student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Chapter president Natalie Sepulveda ’26, led her team into the conference with one major goal: to secure support for the 2026 ASCE Frontier Symposium. The symposium, co-hosted by the ASCE Chapters at TAMU-CC and Texas A&M University- Kingsville (TAMU-K), will take place in April 2026.

The ASCE Frontier Symposium is expected to bring approximately 800 ASCE members from 40 universities across three states to the Coastal Bend. Students will compete in various civil engineering events, including concrete canoe, steel bridge, and timber strong competitions — all designed to test knowledge, skills, and teamwork.

“Hosting this symposium is a really big opportunity for us because it is generally hosted at larger universities like Texas A&M or UT,” said Sepulveda. “Having this event in the coastal bend puts us on the same level as those large universities, so it’s very exciting to have been chosen as hosts for next year.”

The TAMU-CC students’ participation in the 2025 CECON marks an important step in their professional development and brings attention to the 2026 Frontier Symposium — an event that promises to be a milestone for the TAMU-CC ASCE student chapter.
