Dr. Hongwei Hsiao’s Workplace Safety Research Featured on KRIS 6 News
KRIS 6 News created an informational video that highlighted Dr. Hongwei Hsiao’s inspiring career and his Workplace Safety Research at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Hsiao is a Professor and the Rogelio Benavides Memorial Chair of Industrial Engineering and Industrial Safety at TAMU-CC. The video discussed the backstory, processes, and goals of Hsiao’s research, which is to decrease the amount of workplace injury by using 3dMD scanning. Additionally, three-dimensional scanning technology scans the whole body to collect data, which is used to build personal protective equipment to fit a diverse population. Dr. Hanwen Wang, a Postdoctoral Research Associate, contributed to the research by assisting Hsiao with the 3dMD scanning and data collection. The video concluded with the chance for people to participate in the research to get 3D scanned for body-structure data purposes.
