Islander Enrichment Academy

In spring 2026, the TAMU-CC College of Education and Human Development began piloting its Islander Enrichment Academy (IEA). IEA is designed to be a campus-responsive support for local schools looking to provide after-school programming. Our pilot, conducted in partnership with West Oso Junior High School, is creating meaningful after-school enrichment opportunities for 20 students and their families. The program runs three afternoons per week. The children and families who participate experience literacy coaching, financial literacy training, and social-emotional development, delivered by staff and students affiliated with TAMU-CC and the university's Counseling and Training Clinic. Each session includes a family component that parents/guardians are invited to attend, supporting the continuation of learning at home and the child's holistic development.

The program is now recruiting additional schools for partnerships beginning next fall. IEA has great potential to further connect the college with the community and allow the talents and expertise of our faculty and students to shine.
