Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers

COEHD               Charles Butt Scholars

Through the generous support of the Charles Butt Foundation, TAMU-CC students are eligible to apply for the Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers. This scholarship will provide $4000 per fall and spring semester ($8,000 per year) to qualified students.

Apply by January 31 for the 2026-2027 scholarship!

RSVP to the application party on November 14! The application party isn't necessary to apply, but it will give you great information and support in preparing your application. 

To apply, you must fulfill the following three criteria:

  1. Be committed to teaching in Texas public school, at either of the following:
    • A Title I school (majority economically disadvantaged) 
    • OR a shortage subject area (math, science, bilingual education, special education)
  1. Have at least one full year of coursework to left complete.
  1. Be pursuing certification through one of these programs:
    • Bilingual Education (EC-6)
    • Early Childhood Education (EC-3)
    • Elementary Education (EC-6)
    • Kinesiology/Physical Education (EC-12)
    • Mathematics (4-8)
    • Special Education (EC-12)

Once selected, scholars are expected to maintain full-time status, have a 3.0+ GPA, attend monthly scholar events, meet with the program lead, and assist in recruiting new scholars.
