A Message from the President: Incident Command Team to Monitor Gulf Activity this Holiday Week
Dear faculty and staff,
As we prepare to enjoy the holiday break with our family and friends, I want to remind you that the Island University will observe an early release at noon on Wednesday, July 3, and an official holiday closure on Thursday, July 4. Despite the festivities, our Island University Incident Command Team will be diligently monitoring the Gulf of Mexico for any tropical weather activity with local impacts.
I encourage all Islanders to make both work and personal preparedness plans. This includes being prepared to potentially work and teach remotely next week if our area is impacted by tropical weather. Please regularly review your business and academic continuity plans, ensure your Code Blue information is current, frequently check your Islander email, and stay informed about weather conditions by monitoring local forecasts. Please also remember that remote access tools and resources are listed in the Anytime, Anywhere Access on IT’s Service Portal.
Wishing you all a happy and safe July 4 holiday.
Sincerely,
Kelly M. Miller, Ph.D.
