Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers a variety of campus visit experiences designed to meet the needs of students at different stages of their educational journey.

Available options include:
- High School, Transfer & Graduate Student Group Tours – Guided campus tours led by current Island Ambassadors.
- Middle School Visits – Choose between a guided campus tour or a self-guided scavenger hunt experience.
- Elementary School Visits – Self-guided scavenger hunt experiences designed to introduce students to college life through fun and interactive activities.
Please review the available options below and select the experience that best fits your group's age, interests, and educational goals.
Submitting a tour request does not guarantee a reservation. Group visits are not confirmed until a member of the Islander Welcome Center staff provides official confirmation.
Groups should not make travel arrangements or finalize plans until a confirmation has been received.
Self-guided visits and scavenger hunt experiences are available throughout the year. Groups are encouraged to submit a request at least a week in advance so the Islander Welcome Center can prepare scavenger hunt materials and provide visit information.
Student Registration Requirement
For guided tours serving high school, transfer, and graduate student groups, all student participants will be required to complete an individual tour registration prior to the visit.
Registration instructions will be provided after the group tour request has been confirmed.
Group Supervision & Responsibility
All visiting groups must be accompanied by adult chaperones, teachers, or sponsors at all times.
A minimum ratio of one (1) adult chaperone per ten (10) students is required.
Responsibility for student supervision, safety, and behavior remains with the designated adults and not Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi staff, Island Ambassadors, or tour guides.
Arrival, Check-In & Timing
Groups are encouraged to arrive approximately 15 minutes before their scheduled visit to allow time for check-in and restroom breaks.
For approved guided tours, sponsors must call the Islander Welcome Center at 361-825-8687 approximately 15-30 minutes prior to arrival.
Groups participating in guided tours should arrive at their scheduled start time. If a group arrives early, participants may take a restroom break in the Michael and Karen O’Connor Building until staff members are available.
Groups participating in self-guided visits or scavenger hunts should check in with the Islander Welcome Center upon arrival to receive any requested materials and visit information.
Late Arrivals
Due to staffing schedules and tour commitments, groups arriving more than 15 minutes late may have their tour shortened, modified, or canceled.
Groups are encouraged to plan accordingly for traffic, weather, and other travel delays.
Student Conduct & Expectations
Students and guests are expected to conduct themselves respectfully while visiting campus.
Disruptive behavior is not permitted. Students may not enter classrooms, laboratories, offices, residence halls, or other restricted areas unless directed by university staff.
All university facilities and property must be treated with care. Vandalism, graffiti, theft, or damage to university property will not be tolerated.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi staff and Island Ambassadors reserve the right to modify, shorten, or cancel a tour if participant behavior becomes disruptive or creates safety concerns.
Presentations & Special Requests (Guided Tours Only)
For high school, transfer, and graduate student groups, additional experiences such as Admissions & Financial Aid presentations, dining hall visits, and Campus Store visits may be requested.
Requested presentations and special activities are subject to staff, facility, and space availability and cannot be guaranteed.
If presentations are scheduled, students and sponsors are expected to remain attentive and respectful to presenters.
Cancellations & Changes
If a group must cancel or make significant changes to its reservation, the Islander Welcome Center should be notified as soon as possible.
Whenever possible, cancellations should be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled visit.

Acknowledgement
By requesting and participating in a group visit, sponsors acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to comply with these policies and expectations.
All important information will be sent to the group leaders when requests are confirmed.
Guided group tours are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to staff and campus availability. Submitting a request does not guarantee that your preferred date or time will be available.
If guided tour availability is limited, middle school, high school, transfer, graduate, and community groups are encouraged to consider a self-guided campus visit or scavenger hunt experience. Self-guided visit options are available throughout the year and offer flexibility for groups with specific scheduling needs.
Group visits are generally unavailable during university holidays, major campus events, and periods of high campus activity. Common dates when guided group tours may not be available include:
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Break
- Winter Break
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth (Emancipation Day)
- The first few weeks of the fall and spring semesters
- New Student Orientation programs (summer)
Additional blackout dates may apply based on university operations, staffing, and special events.
How far in advance should I request a visit?
We recommend submitting requests at least two weeks in advance. Popular dates may fill several weeks ahead of time.
How many students can participate in a guided group tour?
Guided group tours can accommodate up to 80 students. Larger groups may need to schedule multiple tour experiences at different times or on different dates.
Can elementary school students participate in a guided tour?
No. Elementary school groups participate in a self-guided scavenger hunt experience designed specifically for younger students.
What options are available for middle school groups?
Middle school groups may choose between a guided campus tour and a self-guided scavenger hunt experience.
Can our group eat on campus?
High school, transfer, graduate, and eligible middle school groups may request lunch in the Islander Dining Hall. Dining hall visits are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Can we request an Admissions & Financial Aid presentation?
Admissions & Financial Aid presentations may be requested for high school, transfer, and graduate student groups. Presentations are subject to staff and space availability.
Where should buses and vehicles park?
Parking and arrival instructions will be provided in your confirmation email.
What happens if it rains?
Campus tours are conducted rain or shine. In the event of severe weather or university closures, tours may be modified, rescheduled, or canceled.
Do students need to register individually?
Students participating in high school, transfer, and graduate student group tours may be required to complete an individual registration prior to the visit. Instructions will be provided after the group tour is confirmed.
Can we visit if guided tours are unavailable?
Yes. Self-guided visits and scavenger hunt experiences are available throughout the year and provide a flexible alternative when guided tour availability is limited.
Can our group visit the residence halls?
Residence hall access is limited and may not be available during every group visit. Housing information will be provided during the tour when possible.
How many chaperones are required?

Who is responsible for supervising students?
Teachers, sponsors, and chaperones are responsible for supervising students at all times while visiting campus.
Are accommodations available for participants with disabilities?
Yes. Groups requiring accessibility accommodations should notify the Islander Welcome Center when submitting their request.
How do I cancel or modify a reservation?

Tours introduce students to academic programs, student support services, campus traditions, and the admissions process while providing an opportunity to explore the Island University firsthand.

Popular Option for Middle School Groups
Many middle school groups choose the self-guided scavenger hunt because it offers scheduling flexibility and provides an engaging, age-appropriate way for students to explore campus while learning about college life.
Elementary school groups are invited to explore Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi through a self-guided scavenger hunt experience. This interactive activity introduces students to college life through fun facts, campus landmarks, and age-appropriate exploration activities designed to spark curiosity about higher education.
