Scholarships are merit-based monetary gifts that can be used for college and do not have to be repaid.

Good things to know about scholarships

  • If you receive a private scholarship, you must turn the check and/or related documentation in to the Office of Student Financial Assistance so that the necessary adjustments can be made to your financial aid award(s).

Other scholarships

Hundreds of thousands of scholarships are awarded each year to students from various entities and organizations. Generally, scholarships are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. However, scholarships are also available for students who are interested in particular fields of study, who are from certain walks of life, or who demonstrate financial need. Databases of these scholarships opportunities exist for students to take advantage of.
