STEM Summer Institute Summer Program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

The STEM Summer Institute at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers summer programs for middle school and high school students. Every year, our faculty and staff create a line-up of summer programs to expose young students to the engineering and computing sciences fields through engaging hands-on activities presented by university faculty and student mentors.

This year, we will be offering the following summer programs:

Summer program description: STEM-Tronics is an educational platform developed to introduce state-of-the-art technologies to a new generation of students. The goal is to expose students, at an early stage of their educational pathways, to the Engineering field by the interaction with different types of electrical and mechanical modules that can be connected to build unique projects related to Mechatronics, Automation, and Robotics.

Program dates: June 6 - 10, 2022

Time: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Monday - Thursday) and 8:30 AM - 2 PM (Friday)

Age group: rising 6th - 8th grade students


Underwater Robotics

Summer program description: This program will introduce participants to Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) through exciting hands-on engineering activities, including PVC ROV assembly and competition, balsa wood bridge building, and competition. In addition, participants will take a field trip to the Laguna Madre Field Station where they will learn about the natural habitat through various environmental activities including kayaking. 

Program dates: June 20 - 24, 2022

Time: Monday & Tuesday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Wednesday – Friday 9:00 AM - 8 PM.

Parents/guardians are invited to the Underwater Robotics competition and Awards Ceremony on Friday evening.  

Age group: 15 - 18-year-olds


Adventures in 3D Printing:

Summer program description: Adventures in 3D Printing gives students the opportunity to learn about the engineering field through engaging hands-on experiences. Participants will follow ethics and the engineering design process to design a product using Autodesk Inventor software, bring it to life using 3D printer technology, and test it in the engineering workshop.

Program dates: June 27 - July 1st, 2022

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Age group: rising 8th - 12th grade students (13 – 18 years old)


Registration fees are as follows

STEM-Tronics $55

Underwater Robotics $205

Adventures in 3D printing $105

Registration fee covers all materials, activities, and lunch (for all day programs)
