CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –John Paul Regalado, Executive Director of Academic Advising at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, has been elected to serve as President for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.
NACADA provides strong support for individuals dedicated to delivering high quality academic advising on our campuses. Members of the Academic Advising Consultants and Speakers Service provide assistance to institutions across the world.
“I am truly honored to serve in this leadership role,” said Regalado. “This position will assist me in in my overall goal to advance the field of academic advising globally and to implement and promote effective advising programs for all students.”
NACADA was chartered as a non-profit organization in 1979 to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to ensure the educational development of students. Since that beginning, NACADA has grown to 10,000 members consisting of faculty members, professional advisors, administrators, counselors, and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal, and vocational needs of students. In addition, NACADA is the representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.
NACADA maintains active membership in the Council for the Advancement of Standards, a consortium of professional associations committed to implementing standards for practice in higher education.
