University Counseling and Educational Psychology Faculty Members Present at National Conference

AARC Presentations

HOUSTON, Texas – Eleven members of the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology; at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi presented at the national annual conference for the Association for the Assessment and Research in Counseling held September 6-7, in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Robert Smith, Professor and Chair for the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology, Dr. Michelle Hollenbaugh; Assistant Professor for the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology; Dr. Richard Balkin, Assistant Dean for the College of Education and Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology; and doctoral student Saumya Arora gave a presentation titled “Building a Comprehensive Tool to Measure Reconciliation Inventory in Groups.”

Arora also gave a presentation titled “Measuring the Perfection of Love through Multicultural Lenses.”

Balkin and doctoral student Nephaterria Harris gave a presentation titled “Using the Forgiveness Reconciliation Inventory in Groups.”

And Dr. Lisa Wines, Assistant Professor for the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology, and doctoral students Jose Palacios, and Marta Monteiro, gave a presentation titled “Best Practices for Suicide Risk Assessment: A Tool for School Counselors.”

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi doctoral student Helena Rindone and Dr.Carl Sheperis from Lamar University gave a presentation titled “Asking the Right Questions: Development of an Assessment to Identify Risky Sexual Behaviors in Teenagers Based on Attachment Lifestyles.”

The Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC) is an organization of counselors, educators, and other professionals that advances the counseling profession by promoting best practices in assessment, research, and evaluation in counseling. The mission of AARC is to promote and recognize excellence in assessment, research, and evaluation in counseling.
