CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Cleofas “Cleo” Rodriguez, Executive Director of the National Migrant Seasonal Head Start Association in Washington D.C., spoke to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) on campus.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi education majors gathered in the Educational Center for Mathematics and Science Building to further their knowledge of the importance in the field that they have chosen as a profession.

“Teachers, students, and parents need to understand the importance of early childhood education,” said Rodriguez.  “A solid educational foundation is a necessity in a child’s life and will make a positive difference in their future.”

Rodriguez’s first stop in town was at A&M-Corpus Christi. Following his speech to University students, Rodriguez met with the Westside Business Association in Corpus Christi to address the plight of migrant workers, as well as his own experiences in life and education.

“This is a great opportunity for individuals to meet with ‘Cleo’ and learn about the importance of educating our youth,” said Dr. Gilda Ramirez, Director of the Antonio E. Garcia Arts &  Education Center. “We are honored to have him at our university.”
