August 15, 2013

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Julian Lewis, foiled the competition, and qualified for the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) “Games of Texas” in 2015.

The Fencing League at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an athletic club founded in 2009 to educate students in the art of fencing. The club holds tournaments in the spring against other colleges and clubs and there are weekly practices.

“The students have formed a great club,” said Kevin Krank, Fencing Team Advisor. “I’m proud of what they’ve done and all of their successes.”

Lewis, The Islander Fencing Team Vice President, placed third in mixed sabre at this year’s “Games of Texas” on July 27, in Corpus Christi.   He will now represent the team at the 2015 competition in Lincoln, Nebraska.

“Julian is a good representation of how hard the club has worked,” said Krank.
