Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Ranked Nationally Among Most Affordable

June 13, 2013

SAN FRANCISCO, California –Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is ranked in the top 50, out of nearly 4,000 colleges, on Affordable Colleges Online’s (ACO) newly released list of “Low Cost Colleges with High Starting Salaries for Graduates.”

“Providing an affordable education for our students has always been a top priority,” said President/CEO Dr. Flavius Killebrew, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. “It’s our mission to maintain a high standard of academic excellence that will ensure all students in our area have the opportunity to complete their higher education.”

Eighty-two percent of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students receive scholarships or financial aid, and numerous on-campus job opportunities are available year-round for students.  Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is 47th on this year’s ACO ranking list.

This is the second time, in the past month, the University has been ranked nationally, as an affordable institution, to receive an education.  College Database recognized Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as a top college for return on investment in May.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, the average student loan debt in 2012 rose to $26,600 nationally.  ACO founder Dan Schuessler says that is why it is important that students are able to get out of college with a decent paying job.

“In this climate of soaring higher education costs, prospective students should know that it’s quite possible to obtain a great education that lands them a well-paying job, but at a very affordable price,” says Schuessler. “Graduates from these schools leave with the skills and education needed to earn high starting salaries in great careers.”

Affordable Colleges Online provides students with information about affordable higher education options and provides helpful tips through financial aid videos, expert advice, and cost savings.

The universities selected must be four-year public schools that are fully accredited and have tuition and fees under $5,000.  Additionally, student starting salaries (after graduation) must average more than $40,000 per year.  Tuition and fees at the Island University are about $4,494 per semester, with the average graduate salary starting at $40,900.
