Graduate Counseling Programs Receive Rare Eight-Year Accreditation from the Council for Accreditation

April 22, 2013

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – All graduate programs in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology (CNEP) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi have been reaccredited by the Council for Accreditation. These programs include the Ph.D. Program in Counselor Education.

The full eight-year accreditation is rare among today’s graduate programs. The CNEP is the first in the country to have a fully accredited Addictions Counseling Program to meet the need of epidemic addictions problems around the world.

In addition, the department awarded the first Ph.D. program offered at the University campus. Also, the doctoral program in Counselor Education is the national leader in graduating Ph.D. Hispanic students entering faculty positions in Counselor Education nationwide.
