CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The English 4321 Grant Writing Class taught by Dr. Charles Etheridge has written four grant applications that have been accepted by the Wal-Mart/ Feeding America Fighting Hunger Together Social Media Campaign.

Acceptance means that the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi Housing Authority, Communities in Schools, and Housing and Community Services (which operates North Side Manor and the Lantana Squares low income housing facilities) can receive money for children's feeding programs. Any Facebook user can vote for one of these organizations per day and can vote every day in April until Tuesday, April 30.

The campus community can help by logging into Facebook and voting for one of the following organizations:

· The Food Bank of Corpus Christi: http://apps.facebook.com/walmartlocal/?applet=hunger&organization=23

· Corpus Christi Housing Authority: http://apps.facebook.com/walmartlocal/?applet=hunger&organization=23&agency=1

· Communities in Schools: http://apps.facebook.com/walmartlocal/?applet=hunger&organization=23&agency=2

· Housing and Community Services (Corpus Christi’s North Side Manor and Lantana Squares Apartments):http://apps.facebook.com/walmartlocal/?applet=hunger&organiz
ation=23&agency=3

Taking time to vote will help the Food Bank and its member agencies combat hunger throughout the Coastal Bend. Since 2005, students and faculty in the University’s professional writing courses have written successful grants that have brought more than $500,000 to area nonprofit agencies.
