CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Island University community gathered March 28 at the campus bus stop to catch the first glimpse of the University bus wrap on a new, environmentally-friendly transit bus.

Special guest “Izzy the Islander” joined students to get a quick tour of the new bus. The bus wrap, intended to raise awareness about Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the community, includes photos of students participating in a variety of activities including diving, medical training, engineering, and pottery. All of the photos pictured undergraduate programs offered at the University.

The bus fare is free for students with a SandDollar$ ID card.  The new bus is considered to be one of the most environmentally-friendly transit buses in Corpus Christi due to its use of compressed natural gas (CNG). In most cases, CNG vehicles generate fewer exhaust and greenhouse gas emissions than their gasoline-or diesel-powered counterparts.
