CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi read books to children with severe health problems who reside at the Ronald McDonald House on March 1. The event was sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA) in celebration of Read Across America Day.

The children enjoyed the company of their visitors, and laughed while listening to the Dr. Seuss stories. The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon also donated Dr. Seuss books for the children to keep and commemorated Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) by reading Dr. Seuss books during the event.

The event was held to help promote the value of literature and ensure that no child gets excluded from participating in NEA’s Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss Day. Through this community outreach, Sigma Phi Epsilon fulfilled their desire to help the children at Ronald McDonald House, and further connect with the Coastal Bend community.
