CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The most recent aerial shots of the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium on the Momentum Campus show the walls of the field house have been completed, and the interior construction is already well underway. The field house will house the locker rooms, coaches’ offices, athletic training room, and serve as the main entrance to the facility.

Construction of the Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium is scheduled to be completed in late May. The University has worked with Joeris Construction in building the premier Division 1 soccer and track complex.

Other details easily visible to passersby on Nile Drive include the skeleton of the press box and grandstand. The steel girders are in place and the walls of the press box structure should be installed by the end of February. The grandstand will be completed shortly thereafter. Several of the track areas, including the pits for the pole vault and steeple chase, have already had their forms poured, and the track surface and turf soccer field will be installed in April. Tree planting and additional beautification of the site will be ongoing through next fall and beyond when the first Division 1 soccer games at the stadium.

By summer 2013, the inaugural women’s soccer program and 11-year old track program will have fully moved in, and stadium will be the official home for both programs. The newly-established Islanders women's soccer program is expected to launch its first season in fall 2013.

The top-notch collegiate facility capable of hosting national and international events will benefit both the University, and the City of Corpus Christi. The $9.6 million, 15,300-square-foot facility, which includes a soccer field enclosed by an eight-lane track, will host Southland Conference competitions as well as non-conference games and tournaments featuring nationally-prominent programs. The facility will also include seating for up to 750 spectators, private suites, storage, and a ticket office.

The Momentum Campus is already home to the Thomas J. Henry Marquee, located near the Nile Drive and Ennis Joslin Road intersection, and the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.  Dugan has honored the memory of his late wife, Susan Dugan, through a scholarship endowment and providing the lead gift to build the Dugan Wellness Center on the main University campus.
