CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Students, faculty, and staff honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today (Thursday, Jan. 24) by participating in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. March and Celebration held on campus and hosted by the Islander Cultural Alliance (ICA).

Immediately following the march, a reception was held at the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Plaza to celebrate Dr. King and his accomplishments. During the reception, the campus community had the opportunity to reflect on writings and words of Dr. King and his followers.

Organizations in attendance at the march were the Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi ROTC Islander Battalion who presented the colors that led the march, students from the Early Childhood Development Center, and the representatives from the McNair Scholars program.

ICA supports Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi’s commitment to embracing difference and promoting increased knowledge of diversity to the University community. Further, ICA provides a cultural programming to promote mutual respect and attributes of global citizenship on the part of students from all backgrounds. ICA encourages the University community to stay tuned for future events in February in honor of Black History Month.
