Academic Continuity Committee
Purpose or Function: The Academic Continuity Committee is focused on ensuring that the university is able to carry out its academic mission should any academic facilities (e.g., classrooms, lab space, library) become unavailable. The committee will engage appropriate stakeholders from across the university, including students, to ensure faculty and academic administrators are prepared to remotely serve the student body.
The committee’s primary functions will be to: develop and share best practices related to academic continuity, review the academic units’ academic continuity plans (drafted in accordance with university procedure 34.07.02.C0.01, Academic Continuity Planning), aid in communicating them to the appropriate faculty members, and work to ensure faculty are fully prepared to educate their students in the event of a campus closure.
Membership: The committee will be co-chaired by the Academic and Administrative Compliance Manager and the Director for Digital Learning and Academic Innovations. The committee will be comprised of one (1) administrator and one (1) faculty member from each academic college/school appointed by the respective dean/director. Additionally one (1) representative from each of the following units will be appointed by their respective supervisors: Mary and Jeff Bell Library, University Registrar, Information Technology, and Center for Academic Student Achievement. Additional members may be added by the Responsible University Official for limited terms as appropriate. Faculty and staff members will serve 3-year renewable, staggered terms, and students will serve annual terms. All terms begin on 8/1.
