Dixie Andelman

Assistant Professor of Nursing
College Of Nursing

At 35, I enrolled in Del Mar College and obtained my Associate Degree and became a Registered Nurse in 2001, for the following 8 years I worked with the following hospital patients; medical-surgical unit, post acute care unit (post surgery), and emergency department. While working in the Emergency Department I enrolled in Texas A & M Corpus Christi to obtain my MSN degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner(FNP) program, graduating in 2009. As a FNP, I worked 3 years in a FQHC in Kingsville Texas with an underserved population. I found this to be a very needed and rewarding experience. I obtained my Doctor of Nursing Practice(DNP) from Frontier Nursing University in 2013. In 2014 I became adjunct clinical faculty for the FNP program and loved it. I have also worked as an FNP in Urgent care and have worked part time in the endocrinology specialty since 2015, receiving my Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management in 2017. In the summer of 2020, I was hired full time at Texas A & M University as an Assistant Professor working in the Family Nurse Practitioner program.
