Disruptive Thinking: Inspiring Innovation in Teaching

This conference brings together researchers and practitioners from all fields to share their work and discuss how it might impact education. We highly encourage participation from all fields, especially those not housed in education. Present your subject and encourage discussion about how it relates to education.

Education is at the crux of all subjects. Yet there is little to no opportunity for dialogue and professional sharing between disciplines. Bring your content and host a discussion about how your subject informs education and how education may inform your future work.

Disruptive thinking involves questioning assumptions, challenging the status quo, and envisioning improvements. At its core, disruptive thinking critiques the prevailing norms in order to drive transformational change. It is about questioning assumptions and conceiving dramatically improved or innovative solutions.

Some ways you can propose to be disruptive:
- Identifying frustrations and inadequacies with existing solutions and proposing better alternatives
- Challenging organizational orthodoxies around current practices
- Using innovative methodologies and technologies to enable breakthrough products, services, research, or models
- Reframing problems by looking at them through different lenses
- Crossing boundaries between disciplines and domains to bring fresh perspectives
- Rapidly iterating and testing ideas rather than getting stuck in planning modes
