On-Campus COVID-19 Testing

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is offering free COVID-19 testing on-campus for university students, faculty and staff. Before you can be tested, you must first complete our COVID-19 prescreening form below. If you qualify, you will be given further instructions on testing location, date and time of the test.

Who is eligible to test?
**With Thanksgiving and Winter breaks approaching, the campus COVID-19 testing is now open to all currently enrolled students, faculty, staff and TAMUS agency personnel regardless of the presence of symptoms and regardless of positive contacts. **

Currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, and TAMUS Agency personnel that meet testing criteria are eligible to apply for testing. Family members of students, faculty, staff, and local agency employees are not eligible and are asked to visit their medical provider or other public testing sites.

How much does it cost?
Testing is free for currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, and TAMUS Agency personnel. Family members of students, faculty, staff and local agency employees are not eligible for testing and are asked to visit their medical provider or other public testing sites.

 

When will tests be conducted?
Testing will occur throughout the spring 2021 semester. A limited number of tests are available. For information on the next available testing date, please check the University Health Center’s website at https://healthcenter.tamucc.edu/covidtest.html.

  

How are the tests done?
The test is a self-administered oral swab. You will be provided instructions on how to administer the test on-site by a Health Center medical professional.

 

How long will it take to get my results?
Results will be emailed to you within 3-5 days of testing. It will come from Curative Inc.

What if I test positive?
TAMU-CC Students and employees must report positive test results to the university at:  covidreporting@tamucc.edu

If you are an employee, you should immediately notify your supervisor.

If you are a student, you should notify your faculty via email. If you don’t hear back from them within 48 business hours, you should contact Student Engagement & Success by email at SEAS@tamucc.edu for assistance.

You should contact your primary care physician for guidance.

 

How do I register for the testing?
Each person requesting a test must complete a registration questionnaire and online scheduling form.

Once you are registered, you will receive an email with an appointment number. You must print this email out and bring it with you to the testing location. You must also have your university (SandDollar$ card) or agency ID card as well.

All tests by appointment only. No walk-ins will be allowed on the day of testing.

 

Do I have to wear a face covering?
Yes, anyone coming to be tested must wear a face covering. You will be instructed by the workers when to remove your face covering during the testing process.

 

How often can I test?
You may not test again until all previous test results are received. If you try to test repeatedly, the University Health Center, can deny access to testing with cause.

 

 

What if I need to get tested and there are not any spots left, or there is not another testing event scheduled until the following week?
To provide efficient testing, advance registration for appointments is required. Drop-in participants cannot be accommodated.

The University Health Center has information on their website for other local testing locations. Costs associated with testing at these locations is the responsibility of the person being tested.

What do I do while I wait for my test results?
While waiting for results, it is essential that the sick person remains at home in isolation. They should arrange for others to provide groceries, medicines, etc. whenever possible to avoid exposing others.  Even if the test is negative, the sick person should remain at home until any fever has resolved and any other symptoms are significantly improved.
