Jan. 07, 2022: Students - TAMU-CC Official Notice: Please Update Contact Information in Code Blue

Dear Islander students,

Happy New Year, Islanders! We hope you had a restful and safe holiday break. We are eagerly counting down the days until the start of the spring semester and we can’t wait to see you back on campus soon.

In collaboration with city and state leaders, and in consultation with the Texas A&M University System, the Island University continues to make decisions in an effort to avoid last-minute disruptions to the academic environment and to keep our community safe.

As we look toward the start of the spring semester, the situation surrounding COVID-19 in the Coastal Bend and in the Islander community remains dynamic. At this time, we will begin the spring semester as planned, in-person with face-to-face instruction and student activities.

The following are important updates for the safe return of students to campus:

  • The spring 2022 semester will begin as scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Classes will be delivered in the format in which they are designated in SAIL.
  • Student activities and events will continue as planned.
  • Official information regarding COVID-19 and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will be posted to the TAMU-CC website and will be shared via our official social media platforms.
  • All students, regardless of vaccination status, are strongly encouraged to test before traveling/returning to campus.
  • Face coverings are highly suggested, but not required, for use on campus. Medical-grade face masks, such as N95 or KN95 masks, are proven to be more effective against the highly transmissible variants such as Delta and Omicron.
  • PCR testing continues to be available to all Islander students, faculty, and staff. The testing kiosk is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. All appointments can be made by going to the COVID-19 testing appointment registration page.
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots continue to be offered and available during the spring semester to any interested students, faculty, and staff at the University Health Center (UHC). Call 361.825.2601 to contact the UHC to schedule your appointment. The COVID-19 vaccine, especially with a booster, remains the best protection available against serious illness. We encourage students to receive vaccinations or boosters at their home location, before coming back to campus, to maximize effectiveness once they arrive to campus.
  • Additionally, we ask that you monitor your COVID-19 symptoms closely, get tested quickly if you develop any symptoms, and stay at home if you do not feel well. Students, faculty, and staff who test positive for COVID-19 are required to fill out the COVID-19 Reporting form and isolate per CDC guidelines.
  • Please continue to reference the campus guide which will provide the most recent updates to our COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

We are closely monitoring all developments related to COVID-19 and will keep you posted on any necessary changes or developments. Please make sure you monitor your Islander email and have correct contact information for the Code Blue messaging.

Thank you for your continued effort to work together at an Islander community to reduce our campus risk. We all share responsibility to remain vigilant and do our part to keep our communities safe and minimize the impact of COVID-19.
