Islander Sports Camps

Islanders Athletics at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will offer a series of Islander Sports Camps this summer ranging from baseball to volleyball to soccer. Click here to see a full list of athletics camps.

STEM-Tronics

June 03, 2019 through June 07, 2019
STEM-Tronics camp gives the opportunity to learn and use state-of-the-art technologies that can be combined to create different electrical engineering projects related to automation, mechatronics, wearables, and robotics. The camp is geared for those in 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade. Students will learn to assemble each of the electrical components and make the systems work properly. Application deadline is April 15.

Women in Technology Mobile App Development Camp

June 10, 2019 through June 14, 2019
Girls Code Camp will offer two camps this summer. The second is Women in Technology Mobile App Development, in which campers will be introduced to programming using MIT App Inventor. This app is an easy interface to allow campers to learn mobile app coding. Over the course of the camp, attendees will build individual and team apps with help from an Island University mentor. The camp is open to girls in middle school. Application deadline is April 30.

Coastal Bend String Camp

June 10, 2019 through June 15, 2019
The Coastal Bend String Camp will offer elementary, middle, and high school students the opportunity to come to the Island University for a week of music and fun. The cap is open to all students with at least two years of experience with a string instrument. Commuter and resident campers are welcome. The deadline to apply for resident applications is May 20, and the deadline for commuter applications is June 1.

Summer Theatre Workshop: Camp on the Coast

June 16, 2019 through June 29, 2019
The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Summer Theatre Workshop is a two-week residential camp designed for high school students seeking a highly intensive and creative theatre experience in performance or technical theatre. Participants will rehearse and perform in a one-act play directed by one of six highly successful theatre educators. Commuter and residential campers are welcome. Application deadline is May 16.

Women in Technology Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs)

June 17, 2019 through June 21, 2019
Girls Code Camp will offer two camps this summer. The first is Women in Technology Unmanned Ground Vehicles, in which campers will be introduced to programming through hands-on activities. Over the course of the camp, attendees will build and program an autonomous robot that they will then used in an obstacle course competition. The camp is open to girls in middle school. Application deadline is April 30.

Young Authors’ Writing Camp

June 17, 2019 through June 28, 2019
This summer, the Coastal Bend Writing Project will offer multiple writing camp sessions to elementary, middle, and high school students. These camps provide student authors with a variety of writing activities and experiences designed to expand their interest in storytelling while helping them experience writing as a fun and creative opportunity for self-expression and communication. All students will receive camp materials, a camp t-shirt, and anthology. Application deadline is June 1.

Underwater Robotics

July 07, 2019 through July 13, 2019
The Underwater Robotics camp, for high school students ages 16-18, will introduce participants to exciting oceanography research and engineering opportunities, in particular with remotely operated vehicle operation. Throughout the week, campers will participate in lectures, exercises, hands-on activities, design and rapid prototyping, field trips, and a project competition. Students have the opportunity to live on campus and experience the Island University. Scholarships are available. Application deadline is May 1.

Islander Band Camp

July 15, 2019 through July 19, 2019
Islander Band Camps offer middle school, junior high, and high school students the opportunity to come to the Island University for a week of music and fun. Students will experience music-making with TAMU-CC faculty and outstanding area music artists and educators. Classes include group lessons, sectionals, full ensemble rehearsals, music theory, and history. Scholarships are available. Application deadline is June 28 (resident camper) and July 8 (commuter camper).

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Summer Program

July 22, 2019 through July 26, 2019
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Summer program provides South Texas students hands-on experience with UAS equipment and software. Over the course of the program, participants will be introduced to UAS engineering concepts, UAS sensor equipment and software, and will have the opportunity to operate a UAS drone. Applicants must be a rising junior or senior in fall 2019 to be considered. Application deadline is June 1.
