Today, we think of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi as a thriving comprehensive university with renowned academic and research programs that serve the needs of the region and nation. Our status as an innovation hub is well known and continues to grow, and we are proud to be named the number College by the Sea not only because of our beautiful tropical location but also due to our top-quality marine science program and our work through the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies.

It all began 75 years ago in April 1947 when the University of Corpus Christi was chartered. Through several name and affiliation changes, the university continued to grow. In 1989, the university joined the Texas A&M University System and in 1994, it became a four-year institution. To learn more about how we got here, visit our timeline.

Throughout 2022, we will celebrate our 75th anniversary with special events, exhibitions, and more. The schedule of events will be updated as additional celebrations are added, so please check back frequently.
