SILENT
MOON, HAZY DUNES
on the way to the isle
I cross the paths of holy animals:
the owl is first
then the fox
finally the Egyptian scarab
I wonder what all of this means
silent moon over the hazy dunes
waves of the ocean chase waves
SOMETHING
WILD
sky close to water
stars vanish in the fog
I worry for animals in the dunes
hills
high mountains
a gliding seagull
casts shadow on the bright moon
I think of Han Shan's
mountain deer
like wind
she dwells among tall grass and pines
NUECES BAY
CAUSEWAY
high
above
the harvest moon
the long-span bridge
soaring arching
diving
over
the boats
huddled in harbor
fleet
Santa Maria
roaring sea
climbs upon the rocks
