Jim Needham
Dean
Jim Needham is Dean for the Department of Community Outreach at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. His primary interest is in environmental education and outreach programs. Before coming to A&M-Corpus Christi in 1994, Jim served for four years as a Program Coordinator in the Occupational and Environmental Safety Division of the Texas Engineering Extension Service. Previous experience includes 13 years in commercial, industrial, and power construction, primarily in project management/project engineering capacities. He is a Certified Environmental Trainer and a Certified Safety Professional. His education consists of Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Construction Management and a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture from Texas A&M University.

Gretchen Arnold
Director, Pollution Prevention Partnership
Gretchen Arnold is Program Director for the Pollution Prevention Partnership. Her interest is developing partnerships with area small businesses and assisting them with environmental education and regulatory compliance programs as well as providing public education and outreach programs to the community. Prior to joining Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Gretchen was with the City of Corpus Christi for ten years; eight years as a Senior Buyer and two years as Community Communications Coordinator. While with the City, Gretchen's experience in environmental and regulatory programs included five years as co-chair and subsequent chair of the Corpus Christi Air Quality Group, development of a public education program for Corpus Christi air quality issues, and administering an Ozone Action Day program. Gretchen's experience also includes several years of owning and operating her own small business. Gretchen has both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Carole L. Peterson
Director of Workforce Development
Carole Peterson, Director of Workforce Development, works to enhance the economic vitality of South Texas by extending the University's resources and capabilities to the business community. She has 20 years of economic development experience that includes small business assistance, workforce development, tourism development, industrial development and international trade. She was employed 10 years by the Port of Corpus Christi Authority, first as market analyst, later as marketing manager and ultimately as director of strategic planning. She has also owned and operated her own marketing and business consulting firm. Her clients ranged from micro enterprises to large international organizations. Carole is active in numerous professional and business organizations. She is chair of the Corpus Christi Business Resource Center steering committee and serves on the boards of directors of Texas Workforce Advocates, the Texas Coastal Bend Regional Tourism Council, and the Coastal Bend Land Trust. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Lutheran University and has completed more than 24 semester hours of graduate level business courses.

Bill Hennings
Water Quality Consultant
Bill Hennings is a water quality consultant for Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, assisting political subdivisions and businesses in the twelve county Coastal Bend Region with implementing Phase II of the federal storm water regulations. He was employed by the City of Corpus Christi for 27 years, retiring as City Manager in 1998. He has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree and a Master of Engineering Degree from the University of Louisville and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Corpus Christi State University. He is also licensed as a professional engineer by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.

Crystal Seehorn
Director of Event Coordination
Crystal Seehorn is the Events Coordinator for the Department of Community Outreach. Her primary focus is event planning and coordinating for all outside organizations coming on to the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Before coming to Community Outreach in October of 2001, Crystal was employed in the Center for the Arts at A&M-CC as the Fine Arts Coordinator and has been with the Island University since 1999. Crystal holds her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Deanne (Dee Dee) Hubenak
Business Coordinator
Dee Dee joined the office of Community Outreach in March of 2008. She is responsible for the office accounts and purchases, and assists and supports the dean and directors with their grants, events, programs, conferences, and camps. Dee Dee has worked in a variety of industries as an Internal Auditor and Accountant. Prior to her appointment with Community Outreach, she worked at the TAMUCC University Bookstore for almost six years as a Retail Accountant. Dee Dee graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting degree from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Joe Miller
Director of Education and Youth Issues
Joe became a member of the Community Outreach team in September 2004. As Director of Education and Youth Issues, Joe oversees a variety of initiatives designed to help bridge the gap for youth transitioning into higher education. Summer Youth Camps, Dual Credit Courses, University student mentoring and the Family Life Center are among the efforts currently within Joe's focus. Joe's professional career includes over 16 years experience working with youth in a variety of roles ranging from youth worker to executive director. Most recently he was the director of the Family Life Center; an after-school violence prevention program located at Haas Middle School. Joe holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Edward R. Eiland
Vehicle Emissions Program Coordinator
Ed Joined the Community Outreach Department in December of 2007 working for the Pollution Prevention Partnership. He plans and coordinates the AutoCheck events in Corpus Christi and surrounding municipalities which fall within the Coastal Bend Airshed. Ed attends classes at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He is retired from the U.S. Navy having served as a Missile Technician onboard numerous Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines.
