In Fall 2005 I assumed the duties of Chair of the Department of English. My
current research interest is science fiction, particularly the work of Jack
Vance. My encyclopedia of Vance's writing, entitled An Encyclopedia of
Jack Vance, 20th Century Science Fiction Writer, is available from The
Edwin Mellen Press. I have prepared a revision of this, keyed to the new
Vance Integral Edition, which I plan to distribute as a searchable database on
CD-ROM or DVD. My co-author Oscar De Los Santos and I have published a
collection of science fiction stories entitled Infinite Wonderlands (Fine Tooth Press, June 2006), and
with Pawel Frelik of the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (Lublin, Poland), I
edited Playing the Universe: Games and Gaming in Science Fiction (UMCS
Press, 2007).
I am the Immediate Past President of the Science Fiction Research
Association. You can learn more about the SFRA at its website, www.sfra.org.
