International Graduate Admission Requirements

For more information on International Graduate Admission Requirements, please visit our Graduate Studies and Research web site.

Official Acceptance

An official Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi letter of acceptance will be sent when a student has been accepted for admission. International applicants should not make plans to depart for Corpus Christi until the acceptance letter and supporting documentation (i.e. I-20 or IAP-66) has been received. Actions taken prior to the receipt of the acceptance letter are at the student's own risk.

Under no circumstance will an international student be accepted as a non-degree seeking or transient (visiting) student.

Financial Arrangements

A requirement of a student visa is the "Affidavit of Support" document which affirms that the student has adequate financial resources to attend a college or university in the United States. In order to attend Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, a single student must demonstrate availability of $15,900 (U.S. currency) and married students must demonstrate availability of $18,900 (U.S. currency). All appropriate financial documentation must be submitted along with the affidavit before an I-20 or IAP-66 can be issued. Tuition, fees, books, supplies and housing are some of the costs that require payment on the day of registration for each semester.

PLEASE NOTE: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi cannot award need-based financial assistance to international students.

Health Insurance Requirements

As of January 1, 1997, the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) has mandated that all international students show proof of health insurance before registering for classes. The TAMUS student health insurance plans meet the minimum requirements. If a student has a personal health insurance plan, an explanation of benefits must be submitted to ensure it complies with minimum coverage. Also, a T. B. Skin Test must be performed and read within 90 days of registration by a physician or licensed nurse in the USA. T. B. Skin Tests are provided on campus at the University Health Center free of charge.
