Students
in the History M.A. program and advanced
undergraduates, have opportunities to research in
the outstanding collection of documents and rare
books in the Special
Collections &
Archives
of the University's Mary and Jeff Bell Library.
These materials focus on the history of Corpus
Christi and Texas as well as on Mexican American
Studies. Directed
by Dr. Thomas Kreneck (PH.D., Bowling Green State
University), Special Collections features the
papers of Dr.
Héctor
P. García,
the renowned civil rights leader, and the Kilgore
Collection, a major holding of books and other
printed materials assembled over decades by Corpus
Christi historian and one-time president of the
Texas State Historical Association, Dan E.
Kilgore.
