Degree Plan Requirements
         
  University Requirements  
    Total Hours  
      A minimum of 124 semester hours must be completed successfully for the baccalaureate degree.  Some curricula or combinations of fields require more. No remedial course work may apply toward the degree.  
         
    Upper-division Hours  
      A minimum of 45 semester hours of upper-division credit (3000-4000 level) is required for the baccalaureate degree.  
         
     Hours in Residence  
      The term "residency" is defined as "course work completed at the degree granting institution."  To be granted a degree from TAMU-CC, a student must complete 36 upper-division semester hours from this university.  Additionally, a student must complete 12 semester hours in the major at this university to be granted a degree.  
         
    Grade-point Average  
      A minimum grade-point average of 2.0 ("C") on a 4-point scale in all work taken at this University is required for graduation.  In addition, a minimum grade-point average of 2.0 ("C") is required in all courses taken in the student's declared major field of study, and in all courses taken in any declared minor field of study for conferral of degree.

Specific academic programs may require a higher GPA in the major.  Please refer to the university catalog for additional information

 
         
    General Education Requirement  
      To fulfill the general education requirement, a student must successfully complete the University core curriculum (or the equivalent) and meet the foreign language and computer literacy requirements.  In addition , all students who enter the University as full-time first-year students must complete the FIrst-Year Seminar requirement  
         
       
  College of Liberal Arts Requirements  
         
    Major-study Requirements  
      A student must attain a minimum of 30 semester hours in the major field of study, not including any course work taken as part of the University Core Curriculum Program.  At least 18 of these 30 hours must be upper-division (3000-4000 level) courses.  Specific course and major-study hour requirements for each discipline are given in the discipline course listing section of the catalog.  Some curricula or combinations of fields (i.e. Social Studies or Language Arts) require more.  Please consult that section of university catalog for specific requirements which must be met for each disciplinary major.  
         
    College Language Requirement  
      Two (2) semesters of study with passing grades in a single foreign language at the college level are required for students majoring in degrees in the College.  [Exceptions to this requirement are the B.F.A. in Art and the B.M. in Music--These students must only adhere to the University requirement.  Students must complete COSC 1315 or approved substitution for computer literacy.   
         
    Note:  Graduation Under a Particular Catalog  
    Students are responsible for knowing and understanding all requirements for graduation set out in the catalog in which they first received credit from this University. Provisions of each catalog must be completed within six (6) years of the date of the catalog chosen.

These provisions are subject to the restriction that the University still offers programs and required curriculum described in the catalog.
