Because culture, racial, economic, and ideological backgrounds control exposure to literature, every writer starts from a unique place. Teachers have to understand that everyone comes from their home language experiences, and they will grow from there. We will build language experiences rather than supplant or subtract from existing literacy and language fluency.Teachers have to focus on building a relationship with students that is based on trust and respect rather than a dictatorial or adversarial one.
