Nontraditional nonfiction genres

  • Read Grierson, Anson, & Baird's "Exploring the Past through Multigenre Writing"
  • Bring a "nontraditional" nonfiction genre (e.g., recipes, coupons, phonebooks, directories, surveys, blueprints, product reviews, brochures, resumes, advertisements, web sites, email, etc.) to class that you would like to teach at your grade level.
  • Writing Workshop: Bring a draft of your "explanation of teaching to a skeptical audience"--this may be a letter to a principal or parent, and must explain some activity that is in your semester plan. It should pertain to a choice you have made about teaching writing.
