College Deans' Council

1.

The College Deans' Council consists of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the College Deans, and others who may be appointed by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

2.

With guidance from the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, this body initiates recommendations concerning academic programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, advises on appropriate university issues, coordinates planning and implementation of college academic programs, provides administrative oversight for all issues involving graduate education at the University, and performs other functions as designated by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

3.

Specific responsibilities of the College Deans' Council include the following:

(1)

to provide recommendations related to planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the University's undergraduate and graduate programs;

(2)

to insure that the academic standards of the University are maintained;

(3)

to propose and review rules related to academic programs prior to consideration by the Provost's Council;

(4)

to review the impact of proposed programmatic and personnel changes on the overall academic program;

(5)

to recommend programs for faculty recruitment, retention, and development;

(6)

to review requests for special studies related to educational programs;

4.

The College Deans' Council shall be chaired by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The operating procedures of the College Deans' Council are described in University Procedure 02.04.06.C3.01.
