Courses for Graduate Credit

Approved May 30, 1996

1.

Graduate level courses are those courses with a number of 5000 or greater. A graduate level designation however, does not automatically indicate approval of a given course to be included in a graduate degree plan. Each course in a degree plan must be approved in advance by the student's graduate advisor.

2.

Under certain circumstances a course with a number on the 4000 level may be designated “(May be taken for graduate credit).” Such courses must include in the course syllabus those special requirements designated for students taking the course for graduate credit. Students who take such a course will be required to complete the designated special requirements. The syllabus for such courses must be approved by the graduate committee of the college offering the course and by the Faculty Senate prior to its inclusion in the University catalog and in any degree plan.
