Time Line for Granting Honorary Degrees

Supplements System Policy 11.07 and University Rule 11.07.99.C1


1. GENERAL  
  This document should be read in conjunction with System Policy 11.07, which provides guidelines for the granting of honorary degrees, and University Rule 11.07.99.C1, which describes the campus process for selecting recipients of honorary degrees.
       
2. TIME LINE  
  2.1 Members of the faculty, administration, or Board of Regents may submit nominations for honorary degrees to the Committee on Honorary Degrees. The deadlines for submitting recommendations to the selection committee are as follows:
   
  • by December 1 for May commencement;
  • by March 1 for August commencement; and
  • by July 1 for December commencement.
  2.2 Recommendations approved by the committee will be forwarded to the President, along with supporting documentation, by the following deadlines:
   
  • by January 20 for May commencement;
  • by March 30 for August commencement; and
  • by August 1 for December commencement.
  2.3 Recommendations approved by the President will be forwarded to the Chancellor in conformity with System deadlines.
