Women’s Center for Education and Service Board of Directors

Purpose or Function: In collaboration with the Director of the Women’s Center, the Board of Directors establishes and reviews Center priorities and policy and recommends ways to implement the Center’s purpose and goals.  The Board advises the Director on operation, monitors Center activities, and performs other functions.  (The purpose of the Women’s Center is to extend education, provide services, encourage research on women’s issues, and serve as a catalyst for the development of women’s potential through changing attitudes and behaviors related to gender diversity at the University.)

Membership:  The Board will be composed of twenty-one elected and appointed members.  Eight-elected faculty, with at least one member from each of the colleges, will serve on the Board. The Staff Advisory Council will select one administrative/managerial/professional and one support/service representative to the Board.  The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Vice President for Student Affairs, and the Director of the Library will each designate a representative to the Board. Students will select six representatives, with at least one representative from each college.  The Director of the Women’s Center will be an ex-officio member of the Board.
