Staff Advisory Council

Purpose or Function: The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is an elected body of non-faculty employees. As a recommending and advisory body, the council reports to the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and/or the President of the University. The organization functions in accordance with its constitution. The Council serves to represent all benefits-eligible employees of the University not currently represented by other bodies of representative governance (i.e., President's Cabinet and Faculty Senate).

Membership:
Membership is defined in the SAC Constitution & By-laws. Currently the constitution & Bylaws says that the Council membership will comprised of be will consist of one representative for every 30 constituents in each of the 6 occupational categories with a cap of 10 representatives in any one category. A review of occupational categories will occur yearly before the elections. Adjustments to Council membership will be made accordingly before elections are held.

Council representatives are elected to two-year terms. To be eligible to serve on the Council, prospective representatives must have completed one year of employment at TAMU-CC prior to the election of Council representatives.
Representatives must be full-time employees at the time of election. A designated representative of the Department of Human Resources will serve as a resource to the Council. Membership requirements may change if the SAC Constitution is amended.

Presiding Officer: Staff Advisory Council President (elected annually by membership)

SAC committees include Executive Committee, Nominations and Elections Committee, Bylaws and Constitution Committee, Benefits and Employee Development Committee, and University Relations Committee.
